Laurie Weitzman is a dedicated psychotherapist specializing in working with children, adolescents, and young adults with special needs. She holds a Masters in Clinical Social Work from The Catholic University of America, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to her role at A Step Forward. Laurie's professional journey includes serving as a Care Coordinator in wraparound services throughout Montgomery County and as a school-based Mental Health Therapist at a specialized institution for students with social, emotional, and behavioral disorders.

Laurie's academic background is complemented by her commitment to ongoing training in various therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques.

 

Her approach is rooted in strength-based principles, ensuring that she tailors her interventions to the unique needs of each individual client.
